UNLV Promotes DeShawn Henry to Associate Athletics Director for Men’s Basketball Operations

LAS VEGAS — UNLV has promoted DeShawn Henry to associate athletics director for men’s basketball operations, the program announced Saturday.

Henry spent the past seven seasons as UNLV’s director of basketball operations, overseeing scheduling, travel, budgeting and the program’s daily logistics.

The promotion formalizes the expanded role Henry has held since Josh Pastner was hired as head coach in 2025. Henry was the only member of the previous men’s basketball staff retained during the transition, giving Pastner an experienced administrator who already knew the program and university.

Henry’s connection to Las Vegas basketball predates his time with the Runnin’ Rebels.

A UNLV graduate, he spent 20 years coaching high school basketball in Southern Nevada, including stops at Desert Pines and Durango. Henry spent 12 seasons as Durango’s head coach, leading the Trailblazers to 11 winning seasons and several playoff appearances.

He helped 56 players advance to college basketball during his high school coaching career, including 21 who reached the Division I level, and earned two Coach of the Year honors.

Henry joined UNLV in the summer of 2019 and will enter his eighth season with the program in his new role.
