Summers' best college season showed the two skills that matter most for a reserve lead guard: she can make threes in volume and she has handled real creation responsibility. Sixty-nine made threes at San José State forced defenders to stay attached, and 2.4 assists per game — plus a 10-assist game as a freshman — show she can move an offense as opposed to simply finish possessions. Her UNLV sample last season was much smaller, with 76 points in 19 appearances, but she still produced four double-digit games when minutes opened. At 5-foot-5, size will always shape defensive matchups, so Her impact rises when she wins with pace, anticipation and ball pressure instead of trying to absorb contact from bigger guards. With Washenitz set to start, Summers can give the second unit a different rhythm and keep Ford-like organizational responsibilities from falling on a scoring wing. The swing skill is shooting consistency: if the San José State perimeter production reappears, opponents cannot go under screens and her passing lanes become much cleaner.
