Corrections and clarifications
The Scarlet Standard corrects factual errors when they are confirmed. Small copy edits that do not change the substance of a story may be corrected without a note. A correction or clarification that materially changes a fact, attribution, legal status, statistic or the meaning of a passage should be disclosed on the article.
Stories may also be updated as new reporting becomes available. When an update materially changes the state of the story, the article should display an updated time and make the new information clear to readers rather than silently rewriting the record.
Request a correction
Send the article URL, the disputed information and any supporting documentation through the newsroom contact channels. Corrections are evaluated against primary documents, recordings, official statistics and other available reporting.
