LAS VEGAS — UNLV shot 11 of 17 in the second quarter and outscored Fresno State 27-11 in the period, turning a two-point deficit into the lead it carried to an 85-59 win Wednesday at The Pavilion.
Five Lady Rebels scored in double figures.
Mariah Elohim led UNLV with 17 points as the Lady Rebels continued their unbeaten start to Mountain West play.
UNLV shot 52.5% from the field for the game.
Fresno State Controlled the Opening Quarter
UNLV opened 3 of 11 from the field in the first quarter.
Fresno State led 14-12 after the period.
UNLV moved more of its attempts inside the arc: after taking five 3-pointers among its 11 first-quarter shots, it attempted only one among 17 in the second. All 11 second-quarter makes were two-pointers, and the Lady Rebels made all five of their free throws.
Fresno State went just 4 of 13 during the same stretch and did not make a field goal over the final 3:10 of the half.
By halftime, UNLV had turned a 14-12 deficit into a 39-25 lead.
UNLV Found Five Different Scoring Options
Elohim scored 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Shelbee Brown and Jasmyn Lott each scored 15 points. Meadow Roland added 14. Aaliyah Alexander scored 13 points and made all six of her free throws.
UNLV finished with 19 assists on 31 made field goals.
Rebounds and Free Throws Added to the Margin
The Lady Rebels made 16 of 21 free throws for the game. UNLV finished with a 38-30 total-rebounding advantage. Brown and Roland combined for 17 rebounds.
Fresno State shot 21 of 56 from the field and two of 12 from 3-point range.
Jaisa Gamble led Fresno State with 13 points, but the Bulldogs never found enough consistent offense to match UNLV once the Lady Rebels took control.
Fresno State made a brief push early in the fourth quarter, but UNLV answered and restored its lead beyond 20.
