LAS VEGAS — Harmony Golightly, a top-100 guard in the 2027 class, announced her verbal commitment to UNLV on Friday. The 5-foot-7 Mater Dei standout gives Lindy La Rocque another Southern California recruit after a junior season averaging 17.7 points.

ESPN ranks Golightly No. 80 nationally. She attends Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, and has a senior season to play before she can join the Lady Rebels.

Golightly made 95 3-pointers last season, earned Trinity League MVP honors and helped Mater Dei win the league championship. She was also selected to the Los Angeles Times’ All-Star team.

She also earned first-team Open Division/D1 all-state recognition from Cal-Hi Sports and was selected to High School On SI’s All-Southern California team. Golightly became one of the main offensive pieces for a Mater Dei team that finished 26-8.

Golightly’s 95 made 3-pointers gave Mater Dei substantial perimeter scoring, though her shooting percentage was not available. Her ability to create off the dribble adds another part of the appeal for UNLV.

Prep Girls Hoops described Golightly as a patient but decisive guard who changes pace and scores at all three levels, with passing that allows her to contribute alongside another ballhandler.

Hoops Review described her as more scorer than pure point guard, able to make the 3, pull up or reach the rim. A separate Prep Girls Hoops evaluation highlighted her shot creation in isolation.

Those evaluations suggest a guard UNLV could use both to start possessions and to attack after a teammate draws help. If her shooting draws a hard closeout, the ability to drive or move the ball would keep her from having to force a contested 3.

The fit depends on those decisions as much as the scoring. Playing beside another ballhandler would give Golightly chances to catch against a moving defense, while limiting how often she has to create from a standstill.

Cal-Hi Sports also credited Golightly’s perimeter defense at the H.O.P.E. Showcase, where Mater Dei held Mountain View of Arizona to 23 points.

Golightly’s publicly reported offers included Auburn, UCF, UC San Diego, San Jose State and UC Irvine. UNLV won her commitment amid both regional and Power Four interest.

On the EYBL circuit with Sports Academy Swish, evaluators also highlighted her scoring and some playmaking responsibilities alongside other talented guards.

Her Mater Dei role grew after the team lost production around her. Golightly increased her scoring average from 6.5 points as a sophomore to 17.7 as a junior.

With Kaeli Wynn absent at the Hoophall Classic, Golightly scored a game-high 17 against Christ the King. Basket Under Review noted tunnel vision while also highlighting her ability to beat defenders off the dribble and finish through contact.

Golightly’s ability to beat a defender has to lead to a finish or a pass when help arrives. She has another season at Mater Dei to develop that decision-making.

The commitment remains verbal. UNLV has secured an early pledge from a top-100 guard, with her senior season still ahead before she arrives in Las Vegas.
